Three 'I's For Success in Life

Everybody likes success in their life. As the two eyes are essential
for biological life, there exist three 'I's which are indispensable for successful life. Certainly, the possession and employment of them ensure achievement and contentment of any individual. They also help to bring discipline and efficiency in all walks of our life. The three 'I's are discussed hereunder.

Interest: A person should develop the interest in whatever he does. Else, not only the efforts and time spent will be in vain but breeds discontent among the surrounding people. In the same way, over-enthusiasm is also not preferred. Maintaining the interest in anything needs grit and tenacity of the person.

Initiative forms the second step in reaching the desired target. Having interest alone does not suffice to get the result. One should take efforts to plan well and expend the resources, including the time and faith in others. Moreover, one must take new and consistent steps to overcome any foreseeable adversities. Remaining optimistic with a positive mindset tends to produce new ideas.

Involvement. This is the crucial stage for guaranteeing success, and it refers to 'Staying alert and sticking to the set course of actions.' In case of any setback or deviation, there will not be any loss of interest or initiative. Rather, the determined mind keeps faith and moves ahead with confidence. Because Persistent efforts produce success ultimately.

Simply having interest wouldn't yield results unless a person takes concerted efforts to stick to that and continue in that direction without any loss of focus. The effects of the three 'I's can be understood with two simple examples.

Hunger for Quick money

Everybody wishes to make quick money.
That too without any efforts or hard work.
The reason behind this is the deterioration of the the system itself.

Thieves everywhere. BEWARE

This is the latest and shocking news... Another incident of fleecing by the city hospital.

A baby boy sold by his mother to a couple to pay hospital bills was reunited with his family.

A senior official said Nithya had given birth to the boy last month at a private hospital. As she was unable to pay the hospital bills after her husband Jayaram, a daily wage worker, went to his hometown, she was persuaded to sell the baby to a couple in Pammal. When her husband returned and enquired about the baby, he was shocked to learn he had been sold. Based on a complaint filed by an NGO, Tiruvottiyur police filed a case and traced the child and he was returned to his parents.

Why the people are after money and properties of others?

War decides

Wars are fought for several reasons. Some are Egoism, Materialism, Supremacy, etc...
But war never decides who is right , only who is left.

After the Kalinga war, Emperor Ashoka was stunned by the question raised by a Buddhist monk as" What did you achieve except the death of thousands of the warrior." This became the turning point in the life of the emperor who later embraced the Buddhism and vowed not to resort to any battle thereafter. Not only that, he took several measures to propagate the message of peace.

Wait and Decide

Never judge the tree till you see the fruit.
Wait till the process is over to judge the outcome. Urgency cannot make the vegetables delicious
unless they are cooked or boiled.
In the same way, wait for your employee to perform his work without any undue pressure from you.
A person can be gauged by his deeds and not by words. So wait and see.

Prevention is Better

Prevention is easy and cheaper than the Cure.
Wear a helmet for driving a bike and a seatbelt when at the wheels of a car. Rubber gloves help a welder and so the helmet in a site of building construction.

Better cover the fish than chasing the cat. Allowing the cyclone to wreck havoc without taking the safety measures is not a wise act. Even the trapeze men in a circus keeps s wide net below to avoid risks.

Be wise at each step you take.

Worry: Shun It

Worry is the darkroom in which "negatives " are developed.
Realizing the above fact enables us progress in life.

Worry is a feeling of the mind. Discard it to proceed.

Wisdom is a Comb

Wisdom is the comb given to a man once he becomes bald.
That doesn't mean anyone with baldness is wise enough.
The opposite also is not true; even young people can have great depth and length of knowledge and application of mind.

How to change the world?

The first step is to change yourself before expecting other change.
Because, any change cannot be thrust upon the next person unless you adopt and practice it to the world. To demonstrate the good and ill effects, imbibe the change and show its application and practicality.

What happens when you keep sitting all day...

More than half of us spend over six hours sitting down each and every day. Sitting can have short- and long-term effects on your health and body, making this seemingly benign activity potentially deadly. Read on to learn how damaging it can be to sit all day — from your head to your toes.

Weak Legs and Glutes
If you don’t use them, you lose them! By sitting all day, you’re not depending on your powerful lower body muscles to hold you up. This leads to muscle atrophy, which is the weakening of these muscles. Without strong leg and glute muscles to stabilize you, your body is at risk of injury.

Weight Gain
Moving causes your muscles to release molecules like lipoprotein lipase, which helps process the fats and sugars you eat. When you spend most of your day sitting, the release of these molecules is lessened and your rear end is at greater risk of widening, according to research. You’re also at greater risk for metabolic syndrome, even if you exercise. One study found, unsurprisingly, that men who spent more time sitting than usual, gained more weight around the middle, which is the most dangerous place to store fat.

Heart Disease

Sitting can hurt your heart, potentially leading to cardiovascular disease. One study found that men who spent more than 23 hours per week watching television had a 64 percent greater risk of dying from cardiovascular disease than men who only watched television for 11 hours. Experts say people who sit more have a 147 percent higher risk of suffering from a heart attack or stroke.

Diabetes Risk

People who spend more time sitting also have an 112 percent increased risk of diabetes. In one study that looked at the effects of just five days of bed rest, researchers saw increased insulin resistance, a precursor to diabetes.

Varicose Veins

Sitting for long periods of time can cause blood to pool in the legs. This can lead to varicose veins, or spider veins, a smaller version of the former. Though generally not harmful themselves, these swollen and visible veins can be unsightly. In rare cases, they can lead to more serious conditions, like blood clots.

 Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Deep vein thrombosis is a type of blood clot that’s most common in the legs. When part of this clot breaks off, it can cut off the flow of blood to other parts of the body such as your lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism. This is a medical emergency that can lead to major complications or even death. Sitting for too long, even on a long road trip, can cause DVT.

Stiff Shoulders and Neck

As with your legs, butt, and lower back, your shoulders and neck will also suffer from prolonged sitting. This is especially true if you’re hunched over looking at a computer screen.

Tight Hips and a Bad Back
As with your leg and glute muscles, your hips and back will suffer from sitting. Sitting causes your hip flexors to shorten, and your seated position can also hurt your back, particularly if you have bad posture or don’t use an ergonomic chair. Also, poor posture while sitting can cause compression on the discs in your spine and can lead to premature degeneration, which results in chronic pain.

Anxiety and Depression
Lesser understood than some of the physical effects of sitting, are the mental effects. But the risk of both depression and anxiety are higher in people who sit the most. This could be because the mental health benefits of fitness are lacking when one spends their days sitting down rather than moving. If so, these risks could be mitigated with regular exercise.

Cancer Risk

Emerging studies suggest that prolonged sitting can increase your risk of certain types of cancer, including lung, uterine, and colon cancers. The reasons for this aren’t entirely clear.

Who is a genius?

One who shoots at a target that no one else sees and hits it.

One who knows that to ride a boat, control of sail is easier than the blowing wind.

Presence of mind, Concentration and judgement are the three ingredients of a genius.

Love

Love is the only game that two can play and both can win also.

If you keep judging people, you will have no time left to love them.

Always weigh the good and bad things of life and decide based on the more of them. Still better to decide based on goodness only.

Rose is liked by everybody fit its bewitching beauty though it's has spines on stalk of the flower.

Commit if you can deliver

Many people have the habit of making commitments but fail to keep up.

This sort of false assurances not only affects others, but lowers the self image of those making such promises. A person, pretending to be so sincere, assured his guest to get an admission in a reputed college. However, he did not make any efforts towards that end. His guest suffered and understood the real nature of the former.

Trick to do many things

The shortest way to many things is to do one thing at a time.

No man is rich enough to buy back the lost past or time.

Eight steps for averting procrastination and effective utilisation of time are given here.
1. Sort out and retain the issues that can be worked or resolved.
 2. Arrange them in the descending order of importance and time.
 3. Delegate the works to complete in the order of priority.
4. Perform with faith and conviction.
5. Review the progress at regular intervals.
6. Analyze the shortcomings to take corrective steps.

What is in a ' NEW YEAR'

'New Year' means diverse things to various segments of the society. For a layman, it's the commencement of another year. An office-goer feels it as one more holiday to relax. Rich people get a chance to spend lavishly, and display their status. The elders hope for their dreams to materialize. Manufacturers of calendars, diaries, gifts, etc., seize this occasion to spruce up their profits. Whatever the prospects a New Year holds, its basics never change.

Our Earth takes 365 days to complete one revolution around the Sun. To achieve this task, it works hard and rotates on its axis uninterrupted for 8760 hours, and proceeds on its endless journey. Just when the Earth has finished one revolution, we say one year is over. The moment it starts another trip the next year begins. It's a Happy New Year, thanks to the Mother Planet. Going by the same logic, we can also wish a person 'Happy New Year' in addition to the traditional 'Happy Birth Day' on completing one year from his last birthday.

New year described above pertains to the Gregorian calendar accepted all over the world. However, several parts of the world and diverse cultures within a territory have their own calendars and New years. For instance, different states of India celebrate it on distinct dates. It starts in Chithirai month (April) for the people of Tamilnadu while it falls on the first day of Chaitra month (March) in Maharashtra. Jews have their New year in September. To Muslims, the same comes in October. Chinese New year falls between 21st January and 20th February.

People celebrate this special occasion in a variety of ways, but exchange of greetings, online and offline, remains to be the simplest and easiest. One interesting greeting received through SMS reads as '31st December of the calendar says, 'Turn me.' Time says, 'Plan me.' Future says, 'Win me.' Money says, 'Earn me.' God says, 'Remember Me.'

Making a resolution for the forthcoming year is a customary practice, but it aims for a personal benefit. However, the following resolutions will definitely produce contentment and happiness to all.

Never harm others in any manner.
Exchange, even the negativism, in a positive way.
Work hard to benefit self and others.
Yearn for peaceful and happy life.
Eliminate anything that spoils and affects the environment.
Always help others though in a small way, and
Review the progress and take action to improve.

Why don't we make it a habit to celebrate every day as New Year to have an inspiration and a sense of positivism? Just think of how the whole world will be if each one of us is bubbling with cheers and happiness all through the year. The pomp and spirit of New year celebrations should not end on the first day itself. New Year is the only event celebrated on a grand scale all over the world, though it is not a festival. We can call it as a Secular festival. The United Nations can think of naming First January as Unity Day.

Wish a Happy and Peaceful New Year 2015.

Methods to naturally cure the Tooth decay

Oil pulling. A staple healing practice in Ayurvedic medicine, oil pulling is one of the best ways to encourage a bright smile and happy gums. Simply swish one tablespoon of oil (sesame or coconut) around the mouth and through the teeth for up to 20 minutes. Discard the oil (never swallow) and immediately rinse mouth with warm water. Lastly, brush your teeth as normal. Proponents of the method swear by the health benefits -- from a reduction in headaches and seasonal illness to a decrease in tooth caries and gingivitis.

Remineralizing toothpaste. Another tooth- and gum-friendly habit is found by brushing with a mineral-rich toothpaste. Using antifungal coconut oil, pH-balancing baking soda, bacteria-blasting essential oils and tooth-fortifying trace minerals,

Sprout and ferment. According to numerous studies -- and the work of Weston A. Price -- phytic acid (found in beans, grains, nuts and seeds) can be problematic for tooth enamel. This troublesome compound not only blocks absorption but also leeches minerals from the teeth, bones and body. To circumvent the issue, soaking, sprouting and fermenting assists in partially deactivating phytic acid.

Diet. Don't overlook the power of food to keep teeth and gums strong. A diet rich in vitamins A, C, D, E and K, as well as minerals like magnesium, calcium and phosphorus, will lay a foundation for robust dental health.Focus on dark leafy greens, pastured organic meats and eggs, raw and grass-fed dairy, fermented cod liver oil and fatty fish like sardines and salmon. Avoid sugary, carbohydrate-laden foods which encourage bacterial growth, tooth decay and gum disease. Good alternatives to harmful sweeteners include stevia extract and xylitol -- the latter is known as a potent defense against tooth-destroying oral bacteria.
Essential oils. To keep gums healthy and disease-free, essential oils of tea tree, clove and manuka are hard to beat. Exceptionally effective against bacteria and fungus found within the mouth, these oils help disinfect tooth surfaces and the gum line while freshening the breath. Simply add a drop to your toothpaste and brush as usual. Although not considered an essential oil, many have had success in tightening loose teeth and reducing gum disease with emu oil. A drop or two applied with your toothbrush (twice per day) is recommended.

Take Risks

If you win, you will be happy.
If you lose, you will be wise.

That is the twin benefits of taking risk in our life.

But certain risks are not worth considering as they spoil you.
Take smoking for instance. It injures both the smoker and the environment.
That's why the adage " A cigarette is a thing with fire at one end , fool at the other."

A calm sea does not make a skilled sailor.
It's hard to beat a person who never gives up.

Laughter is the best medicine

Laughter is the slaughter of the worries in you.

Smiling shows the mild enjoyment of a situation, but does not mean the emotion from the heart. It's a facial expression and arises from the brain.

Laughter alone emerges from and stirs up the whole body. That's why it is commonly said as " Laughter makes you healthy". Because, after the wholesome exercise of laughing, your body exhausts energy that leads to the appetite and sound sleep.

Therefore, laugh your way to wholesome life.

Essence of Life

A day without sunshine is like night.
Similarly, life without any work or action is empty and meaningless.

Knowing without doing anything  is like ploughing without sowing.

Life is optional

The only thing you have to do is breathe: Everything else is optional only.

No individual raindrop ever considers itself responsible for the flood.
Life just gives you time and space. It's upto you fill it properly.

Look at life through the windshield , not the rear-view mirror.

Beware of These foods having cancer potential

Processed meats and foods

Hot dogs, lunch meats and other processed foods are full of chemicals and preservatives that are added to prolong shelf life. These additives not only cause the foods to be toxic, they also destroy what little nutritive value they contain.

GMOs

GMOs, genetically modified organisms, are foods that have been altered genetically to produce more or grow faster than their natural counterparts. The problem with foods that are genetically altered at a cellular level is that even though they are technically the same, they will not react the same once they enter the human body. They will not have the exact same level of nutrition or grow in the same way, as their natural family members. Much like cloning, the food may look, smell and taste the same, but alterations can cause mutations within the cells that scientists have not accounted for.

Non-organic foods

Non-organic foods are those that are grown with the use of pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers. Fruits and vegetables that are repeatedly treated with these chemicals absorb them through their skin or peels. Once the chemicals are inside the food, they cannot be washed away. Therefore, are digested as the become part of our dinner fare. The majority of these chemicals are toxic and, when ingested, can dramatically increase a person's risk of developing various types of cancer.

Charred foods

Charred foods do not necessarily increase a person's risk of contracting cancer. The charred or burnt areas of the food are the main cause of the increase. Charring causes carcinogens to be formed during the cooking process. Consuming portions that are burnt or charred is what increases a person's overall risk. If a piece of food becomes burnt, just cutting away the charred area will substantially reduce the person's risk.

Artificial sweeteners and flavorings

Several artificial sweeteners and flavorings have been proven to increase a person's risk of cancer. Aspartame, Splenda and saccharine are currently being closely monitored to determine if their chemical makeup is responsible for increasing a consumer's risk of developing different types of cancers.

Thirukkural, Wisdom of Thiruvalluvar

Thirukkural, meaning 'Sacred couplets,' is a Tamil Classic written by Saint Thiruvalluvar. The author is said to have lived sometime between the 1st century BC and the 8th century AD. It's the only literature translated into many of the world languages. The verses hold a treasure of principles and information that can be applied for any occasions, fields and times, irrespective of religion and race.

Thirukkural has three main sections as Righteousness, Resources or Wealth, and Love and Happiness. Under the above three categories, 1330 couplets have been arranged serially into 133 chapters of ten each. The essence of fifteen vital verses is given here to highlight the relevance to modern times also.
  1. People seeking God's blessings, get over the life-cycle. Others never do. Man cannot take pride in his self but appreciates the omniscient and omnipresent Almighty. Without Him, it is impossible to lead a happy life. (Verse 10 in chapter 'Praise of God')
  1. World becomes void without water. Only Rain determines it's peace and prosperity. Drought, famine and scarcity render the life difficult and chaotic. Hence, Saving rainwater is the action desired. (Verse 20 in chapter ' Rain's importance')
  1. Action with a pure mind is virtuosity. Else, has no value. Any work done with bad and hidden intentions will boomerang on the doer. (Verse 34 in Chapter 'Value of Integrity')
4. Love and honesty are two virtues. Without them, life is meaningless. (Verse 45 in Chapter ' Family life')
  1. Speaking harshly instead of using pleasant words is akin to preferring an unripe for the fruit. A person who is gritty, but soft-spoken always commands respect and value. (Verse 100 in Chapter ' Pleasant utterance')
  1. Forgetting others' assistance is pardonable, but not the timely help received from them. One should never forget any help provided during the exigencies, even if repaying is impossible. (Verse 110 in Chapter ' Gratitude')
  1. Humbleness makes nobleness, while pride fends distress and enmity. One should remain simple and kind to all, irrespective of the status and age. Learned people remain gracious and calm in all circumstances. (Verse 121 in chapter 'Humility')
  1. Annihilation of Desire, Anger and Ignorance makes life happy. These three attributes cause hardship and troubles in our life. (Verse 360 in chapter ' Realising Truth')
  1. The level of knowledge varies with the number of books read. It is akin to getting more water depending on the depth a well is dug. Keep reading more and more through the entire life to gain wisdom. (Verse 396 in chapter ' Education')
  1. Time-conscious people rule the world. Appreciate the value of time and opportunity to take action. Successful persons never hasten, but wait for the right time and place. (Verse 485 in chapter ' Time Awareness')
  1. Decide anything based on pros and cons. Ascertain the benefits and harm of anything, and determine, based on the more of them. People who can foresee the good and bad effects are the right people for an excellent administration. (Verse 511 in chapter 'Selective Decision')
  1. Positivism or positive mind is the greatest asset; all others disappear later. A person with such attitude takes advantage of any situation and remains cheerful. Gloom surfaces in each opportunity to a pessimist. (Verse 592 in chapter ' Positive Attitude')
  1. Efforts end in greatness. Laziness ruins the wealth. Persistent attempts make you experienced and resourceful. Lethargy lands in misery and disrespect. (Verse 616 in chapter ' Power of Action')
  1. Like hands swiftly moving to prevent our falling dress, Good friendship extends a helping-hand during difficult times. Such friends are countable and called as thick and close pals. (Verse 788 in chapter ' Friendship')
  2.  Correct diagnosis followed by proper treatment with the right drugs suitable for the patient is the best medical practice. (Verse 948 in chapter ' Medicine')

A translated version cannot match the original work. One should learn the language in which the literature is written, to admire and understand the classic like Thirukkural.

You can get the full volume of this marvelous classic as a Translation with Commentary by Rev Dr G U. Pope and two others at http://www.projectmadurai.org/pmetexts/pdf/pm0153.pdf

Life is a Mission

Make your life a mission , not an intermission.

Many people don't believe in hard work and persistence. Instead, they prefer casualness and lethargy to suit their convenience without minding the long term impact on their life itself. Any hiccups or hurdles faced during a mission are viewed as a failure, but not taken as a challenge to their skill or experience.

However, this doesn't mean getting worried and burdened at the cost of the personal happiness and relationships in the society.

Set personal goals and start moving towards them; with all sincerity and determination. Side by side, have the habit of enjoying whatever is required of that age or stage. For instance, a school kid should have a clear target of what to do in his studies, and keep doing that. At the same time, he should enjoy  the fun of that age like playing, watching movies, etc..

Correct your mistakes

The real fault is to have faults and not amend them.
No matter how far you have gone on a wrong road, turn back.

Instead of our advance worrying, develop the habits of advance thinking and planning.
Perseverance should be the engine fuelled by your hope.

Early signs of Cancer

When it comes to cancer, no one wants to be caught off guard with its diagnosis. Unfortunately, many people are initially surprised when they hear that they have the signs of a particular type of cancer only to later realize that the signs had been there for quite some time. Because early detection is often the key to a better prognosis, it is imperative that the following early warning signs of cancer not be ignored.

Increased fatigue
While some fatigue can be considered almost normal given today's busy schedules, if a person suddenly finds that they must take a long nap in order to accomplish their responsibilities, it is cause for concern.

Low-grade fever that lasts
A low-grade fever -- typically classified as a body temperature between 99.8 and 100.8 degrees Fahrenheit -- can be a sign of a number of infections. In addition, it can also be a sign of cancers such as Hodgkin's disease, leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Because it could be the first sign of such cancer, it is important to get a recurring low-grade fever checked out.

Problems of swallowing and chronic sores
In addition to having problems swallowing, other disturbing signs that should not be ignored include lip sores that do not heal within the normal time parameters, a sore throat that does not go away or that recurs, persistent hoarseness that does not go away or that comes back, bleeding that is unusual or unexplained mouth pain.

Weight loss that cannot be explained
While in normal circumstances losing weight would be a welcome sight, if an individual finds themselves suddenly losing weight without trying to diet, exercise more or perform other lifestyle changes, it could be due to cancer.

What is Ebola.....a health issue.

Ebola is a gruesome disease that causes cells in the body to self-destruct, resulting in massive internal and external bleeding. In its late stages, Ebola can cause the victim to experience convulsions, vomiting and bleeding from the eyes and ears while convulsing, flinging blood all over the room and anyone standing nearby, thereby infecting those people as well. This gruesome ending is the reason Ebola spreads so effectively. The virus "weaponizes" the blood, then causes the victim to fling it around on everyone else almost like you might see depicted in some horror zombie flick.

"Haemorrhaging symptoms begin 4 - 5 days after onset, which includes hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, pharyngitis, bleeding gums, oral/lip ulceration, hematemesis, melena, hematuria, epistaxis, and vaginal bleeding," reports the Pathogen Safety Data Sheet from the Public Health Agency of Canada. (8) That same publication also explains, "There are no known antiviral treatments available for human infections."

Read that again: There are NO KNOWN TREATMENTS for human infections.

Inhuman ways of Hospital

This is the world of money-hunger. Private hospitals , not all, tend to make medical service as their source of profit at the cost of the patients inability .

Recently High court of Bombay, India condemned the practice of many hospitals detaining patients till their dues are paid . It's highly deplorable that medical institution supposed to render service are behaving in such inhuman manner.

Personally, I had a bitter experience a few years ago when I visited one of the reputed hospitals in Chennai, India . My cousin was getting the treatment for cancer and after some days, he died. When his sons made all efforts to get the corpse out of the hospital for final rites, the hospital refused for the simple reason " the entire bill amount was not paid." That too, the hospital demanded cash payment instead of the insurance cover tendered for this purpose.

So be careful when you deal with big names ,,,,in any place or profession or business.

Blizarre reasons of Flight landing

A flight schedule getting cancelled or delayed for technical reasons in the machine are familiar to us. Do you know due to what other strange factors, a air- trip gets affected?

Water on the plane - A Melbourne bound flight from Los Angeles had to return to the US about an hour after takeoff due to a burst water pipe. The passengers shared pics of the flooded cabin.

Croc on board - Smugglers adopt novel ways of carrying their merchandise. In 2010, a crocodile was found playing the menace to the passengers. The stampede that following this had resulted in flight losing the balance and crashed in Democratic of Congo killing 19 passengers and crew. The only survivor shared this news.

Adamant Bees - Over 10000 bees swarmed one wing of a plane and delaying the take off for about 20 minutes until a beekeeper landed to remove them.

Pilot's death -  One pilot simply kneeled over and died inside the cockpit. However, the copilot took over and landed the plane safely in the next stop. Then only he politely announced to the passengers with a request " Can I ask you to remain in your seats for a few minutes, as your pilot died a few hours ago and we have to remove the body before we can allow you to disembark. Thank you for your patience, and have a nice day.

Dog poo- the pet dog of a passenger urinated repeatedly on the cabin making the journey uncomfortable for the passengers. So, the flight had to do emergency landing as the crew exhausted all it's logistics to clean the poo.

But in Tamilnadu, India, this syllable means the popular eatery "Amma Canteen" .
Even it has become a brand attracting people from poorer sections. Because you can buy the breakfast ( idly, pongal) at nominal price. Even curd rice, chappathi are sold for the lunch to make the poor people dine twice a day. Square meal , indeed!!

The canteen is a boon for people from low income groups.

The canteens are growing in numbers every month due to the good management and intention.

Even other Indian states and foreign nation Egypt evinced interest in the Amma model of nutrition that delegates visited the stalls and kitchens of Amma canteen to study and implement the same in their places.

Anything for welfare will be appreciated.  Regardless of creed, religion and region.

How to protect yourslelf in the event of a Nuclear accident or war?

Cesium Eliminator is the next "Must-Have" precautionary item.

In anticipation of more nuclear accidents (or even war), many people have already stocked up on potassium iodide or nascent iodine, two different supplements that help protect the thyroid from radiation.

That's a smart strategy, but it's not enough: iodine does nothing to protect from the ionizing radiation of cesium-137, a far more dangerous isotope that quickly contaminates food and water supplies in the event of nuclear fallout.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says, "Cesium-137 that is dispersed in the environment, like that from atmospheric testing, is impossible to avoid... People may ingest cesium-137 with food and water, or may inhale it as dust. Like all radionuclides, exposure to radiation from cesium-137 results in increased risk of cancer."

And the U.S. Centers for Disease Control adds, "Internal exposure to Cs-137, through ingestion or inhalation, allows the radioactive material to be distributed in the soft tissues, especially muscle tissue, exposing these tissues to the beta particles and gamma radiation and increasing cancer risk."

The authorities agree: Cesium-137 is deadly and should be avoided or eliminated at all costs. But until now, no one had conducted the scientific testing necessary to determine what natural substances could "capture" cesium isotopes and help eliminate them from the body.

Cesium Eliminator is the world's first dietary supplement that's scientifically proven to capture radioactive cesium isotopes such as Cesium-137. Click here to see and learn more.

Donate to help others even after your death

If you have the will to help others , you will definitely do it. By leaving a Will for a public cause.

There are many ways to achieve the above purpose.

- create a Trust and donate your estate or money to it . Let the trust provide aids, assistance or free logistics to needy people and for worthwhile causes. This is what many rich people and reputed companies do.

-  contribute  your funds to the educational and social welfare institutions like a Corpus fund . Tell the institutions to pay rewards or scholarships to the poor and needy wards. Many individual philanthropists follow this method as they lack time and people to manage trusts.

-  gift your body organs like eyes, kidneys, heart ...even skin to the organ banks or hospitals . Such institutions will remove the organs upon your death and use them to help those needing badly. Any person can easily adopt this route.

- donating one's body makes you a noble person. One popular and living actor in Tamilnadu has offered  his body to a medical college to enable the students learn the anatomy.

So go for it. Donate whatever is possible.

Google and register your wish but keep your family informed .

Whose money, any way ?

Many governments want to stay in power by spending huge money for waiving the debts that are owed by farmers, students,etc...  This is a ruse to seek the support of those people forming the majority of vote banks.

But what these so-called power mongers fail to understand are the implications of such populist schemes. Why they should bother any way. After all it's no their money....only the public exchequer to worry.

The after effects of such waivers are
-  drain of valuable resources that would have been otherwise invested in some long term and     productive uses like creation of community assets like water tanks, school buildings and infrastructures such as roads, bridges,etc...
-  strain on the tax payers who are usually burdened with additional and new taxes
-  corruption of minds of the honest repayers to default in future
-   creations of impression that govt will come out with waiver program and no need to repay any loan
- business of banks and financial institutions are affected in the long term due to poor credit culture and risk-aversion of banks to lend more.

Really a bad precedent ...by the law makers . Then how the citizens will abide by the laws passed by them.

Respect Your Elders

Everybody including every life form will become elder as they grow older. This is universal law applicable to even the god stepping into the universe through the reincarnation route.

One survey in India found that elderly citizens face humiliation in many different ways of abuse.

Women among them are reported to be more affected.
Usual types of abuse are verbal abuse, disrespect and economic exploitation. Not providing food and timely care remain to be the common complaints of abuse.
Daughter-in-laws constitute the major perpetrators of this abuse.

There are many people who never visited their elderly parents for years together: not even bothered to know whether they are alive. But they call on the parents when they face financial or physical discomforts. Still worse, some children, aged above 50 years, complain that they wouldn't  mind their elders because the latter is of no use.

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

Better be aware  and respect your elders.

Failure causes Success

Success of today is the fruit borne from the failures of yesterday.
Without failure, success will never be felt. Like happiness felt after sorrows.

Failure becomes meaningful for a genius who possesses patience.
Hastiness without efforts and hard work, nobody can reap success.
Mulberry cannot wish to grow as silk bypassing the work and time of the moth .

So have faith in the persistent efforts and time to taste your success.

NO TOBACCO ! ? ...Forever.

Promise yourself the gift of good health
Promise yourself the gift of good health - May 31st - World No Tobacco Day

Courtesy: ICICI Lombard

Smoking is not only bad for your health, it is deadly!

One woman in her late thirties had smoked for 10 years. She had tried all methods to quit but the addiction was so strong she was finding it impossible.

One day , her son told her that he had something very important to tell her.

He looked her right in the face and without wavering said, “I want you to quit smoking because I don’t want you to die. I want a mother in my life.” With that, she walked over to an ashtray, put out her cigarette, and now almost seven years later, she still does not smoke.

While this will not work for everyone, the next time you pick up a cigarette; take a minute to consider how your child or family would feel if you were no longer around.

Let us shun tobacco forever except for medicinal value.

What a strange World !

Yesterday's enemy is Today's Friend.
Friend today turns out to be your opponent tommorrow.

Family members vote for different political parties.
Family members contest the elections on different parties tickets.

Narendra Modi, present ChiefMinister of Gujarat State, India was once denied visa by US and UK.

But when he has become the prospective Prime Minister , the same governments and administrations have extended bouquetsClassic Sympathy Basket and declared that there is no hiccup for issuing visa now.

Time factor causes the topsy turvy of many things.

What a starnge world !!!

Mothers Day

Love, Affection, Dedication, Selflessness, Sacrifice.

These are the words that describe a true mother.
Even any person that displays these attributes can be called as a Mother.

The only word universally common to all  and being used to call a mother is "Ma".
Even the animals spell " Ma" only.

So let us appreciate and duplicate the character of a Mom.

Happy Mothers Day.

Which One you are

A person has to be First, Best or Different.

Which one you would  choose among the above three?

I would like to be the First, Best and Different as well.

But it's very difficult to achieve all of them.

Definitely with focus and practice, you can become the First, Best and different.

One fine example for this Apple Man Steve Job from present generation.
Another is Mahatma Gandhi of India.

Who is a Real Friend?

The friends who stand with you during times of turbulence are the real one.
Others actually get you tough times.

How to identify a good friend?

A tough question, indeed.

Time alone tells who is a good friend. Over a period of time, the behaviour of friend will change depending on  several factors like money, place , situations,etc...

Generally good friends will continue the relationship throughout your life. But others will change like seasons of time.

But to get a good friend, you need to be a good friend.

Act well

" It is good to think well. It is divine to act well. "
Many people simply preach rather to practice it. Political leaders belong to this breed. Only by this measure, they all have a common trait.

Some people are better in advising others but they never do. Trade Union leaders, I mean a majority of the, fall under this category.

But some people talk less but work more. This is the crucial segment that creates aand contributes to the society at large. Plumbers, Teachers, Doctors, etc...are example for this.

You can identify your group to which you belong. Think and Act wisely.

Best Investment

No. This is not about Making Big Money with money..

Hardwork is the best investment a man can make.
A person who recognizes the value of time and hardwork will definitely lauch his dedicated and timebound efforts to reach his goal.

Theres are numerous examples in histiry and contemporary times to amply prove this point.

Even the old saying "Work like a Bull "and "Save like a Ant"go to strenthen this point only.

Just think "how much efforts and starin would have gone into making the above 3D effect of Indain National Flag.

Do Your Best

Do what you can, with what you have and where you are.

Many people tend to feel inadequacy or inability  forgetting what they have or possess in them.

Each person has the greatest asset of Brain to think and act.
Even if there is thought process within, many neglect them for the sole reason they have lesser resources or power to go ahead in executing what cam to their mind.

This is due to the lethargy or the tendency to postpone or procastrinate.
Two hands and two legs are more than enough to prosper in life.

Do's of Insurance

1) Always read the contract notes when received after committing to an insurance cover.Possibilities are there, that even after taking all precautions prior to buying the insurance    product, some exclusions to the risks coverage .

2) Always keep the policy in force by paying the premium regularly.Your claim will be rejected if you have not paid the premium.

3) Always Keep the insurance company informed if you make any changes in the Address, change in the nature and composition of assets covered,etc..This issue crops up in the case of business assets and movable assets like vehicles . When you buy a second hand asset, the risk is more: you have to ensure the title is transferred in your name before taking the insurance.

4) Always buy Life insurance covers from the reputed companies which have a good name in the market .New insurers tend to be inclined towards more business and profit , rather than  the payment of the claims under their policies.

So, Insurance cost  is a Not a Liability but an Investment for Future asset .

BE INSURED FOR  HAPPY LIFE.

Adapt to the Situation

This is the mantra for living a successful life.

This is what Nature surrounding us also teaches.

When the normal prey like fish or worm is not avaiable,  Birds are used to feed on even cooked rice or fruits or cereals. This is what I observed in my place.

When a dog has some digetion problem, it goes on fasting and sometimes, feeds on grass to get the cure for its ailment.

When the tummy is full, a Cow doesn't care to eat a banana.

So better behave accroding to your situation rather than being led by the situation.

Be Proactive

Before you get wet, open your umbrella.

Why many people are so casual and remain till the last moment to take any action.
Either they are easygoing or never bother about their moments in life.

I know one friend who would be making all the hustles in the eleventh hour for his trip to a place. In fact he has beforehand knowledge about his forthcoming trips.

The impact of such casualness and least-bothered approach leads to chaos affecting all those near such person.

Eventually such people tend to repent only when grave mistakes are made .

Why Insurance required?

Significance of Insurance

Many of us think that taking insurance is a cost and utter waste. But, remember, this cost is very least when you compare the benefits that accrue to you in the event of an unfortunate event .

Moreover, the money spent in insurance contracts  can be a good savings -cum- investment for your life and the family. This arrangement takes care of the welfare of your family. You can make a choice of good plans to cover the basic risks of your living like Life, Health, Home, Vehicles,etc..

For your business or profession, go for the policies that will insure the risks associated with your products, fixtures and fittings like plant and machinery,etc..

What is Insurance?

Risks involved in our life are many. Death is the unbearable and irreparable of all risk. That too  untimely death leaves shock and vacuum in a family. To take care of such unfortunate death or any sort of risk ,   a mechanism is in place to transfer the risk from one place or person to another.

When risks  are managed by self  without transfer to another, they are " Retained Risks"  and they are called as " Transferred Risks " when passed on to another for a consideration or price which is popularly known as "Premium".

As the cost is heavy, an individual cannot bear the risk of others. However, an institution like Cooperative or Firm or Corporate concern can manage them . Cooperative Society for Death relief is an example for managing the expenses arising from death of a member. This is very popular among fishermen folks in Kerala, whose life is at risk when venturing out into the sea.

Types of Insurance

There are basically two types of insurance: life and non-life insurance.

Life type is for compensating the dependants in the event of death of the policy holder. This has two sub categories as 1) pure insurance or term insurance where premium rate will be lower but no returns or refunds made if the person survives after the policy period 2) endowment type ,where death and maturity benefits are combined ,which naturally comes at a higher premium.

Non life products cover the risks like Accident, Marine, Health, Goods, Agricultural crops,Cash-in-transit, etc. The popular Mediclaim policy belongs to Health insurance category.

Apart from these, third type exists as Reinsurance which insures risks like Satellite, Spacecraft, etc...involving huge amounts and also when the sum insured exceeds a threshold limit in a case.

The benefits of insurance will be made fully under all policies  for Life insurance whereas only one insurance amount will be settled in the case of Non-life insurance type. Another difference is the period of cover : one year for non-life  policy renewable every year and longer period for life insurance .

Truth is Bitter. Always.

Plain speaking people are not welcome in the modern world.
They are branded as Country-bred, Uncivilized, Unfit, Good-for-Nothing,etc..
To call Spade as Spade is not liked by many people.

So, why should we make others consume as such.
We can cloak the Truth in a manner that appeals to the receiver.

Even your own child doesn't like such frank comments nowadays.
Better stop advising anybody in a direct way.

Therefore, Shoot an arrow of truth with honey on its point.

Software rules the Present World

This is the age of Software.

Hardware used to guide the world in good  olden days. The invention of wheel led to the industrialization and automation of many monotonous works in our daily life.

People who are brainy(doesn't mean higher formal education) enough to manipulate the software programs  are creating history now.

Earlier "Hotmail" was acquired by "Micrsoft" for a huge sum.
Now "WhatsApp" going to be taken over 'Facebook" for a whooping $19 billion.

It also resembles  Big Fish swallowing  small ones.

Moral is " Innovation Gets Rewarded"

Face the Problems

Many people feel crest-fallen and totally defeated when even a minor setback is received during their actions.

Kites rise highest against the wind, and not get swayed by it.

Thomas A Edison could develop a variety of gadgets like Electric bulb that we use now: all these devices were invented after his investing several days of sincere efforts despite facing several flops.

During his childhood, the boy of a poor family had to swim across an ever flowing river to reach the school and again swim to get back to his home. This lad through sheer hard work and determination later became the Prime Minister of India. The name of the boy is Lal Bahadur Shastry.

You may lose a battle here and there, but your commitment to get back up when you fall and improve your strategy will help you achieve a successful outcome.

If You have the Will , You find a Solution or Way.

Take the opportunity now to get back on track.
